Terminal

A Terminal, or Mobile Data Terminal (MDT), is a computerized device used in public transit vehicles, taxicabs, black cars, limos, courier vehicles, service trucks, commercial trucking fleets and paratransit vehicles to communicate with a central dispatch office or just to take credit cards and get an approval in real time. They are also used to display mapping such as DialIM or MdialT.

Mobile data terminals feature a screen on which is displayed information and a keyboard or keypad for entering information, and may be connected to various peripheral devices. Standard peripherals include taximeters or credit card reader, or a Gps receiver for computer assisted dispatching.
